Daewonsa Temple

Daewonsa Temple originally faced south with the peak of Cheonbongsan Mountain slightly to the right side. There were about 10 buildings before the Korean War. All structures were burnt and ruined during the Yeosun- Suncheon Rebellion. Fortunately, Geukrakjeon, the hall of paradise, remains unharmed.

Bongcheon-ri Five-Story Stone Pagoda

Bongcheon-ri Five-Story Stone Pagoda is between Tap-dong and Dangchon Village, Bongcheon-ri, 400~500m away from Boknae-myeon office. The pagoda has a 2-story platform and 5 stories. It is a superior pagoda due to its structural features and successive diminution ratio.

Banseok-ri Seated Stone Buddha Statue

Banseok-ri Seated Stone Buddha Statue is 2.22m high and its halo is 1,36m wide. A natural stone was trimmed in the shape of a ship (舟) and Buddha was engraved on it. A big round face looks solemn and folksy. Clothing covers only the left shoulder. Two big hands are under the knees. Its hands are very unique because the palm of the left hand faces away from the body and the palm of the right hand faces toward the body.

Yusin-ri Seated Rock-Carved Buddha

The seated rock-carved Buddha engraved only on one side of a large granite stone is very superior work created during the early Goryeo period. It looks stable and gentle and is filled with vitality.

Beolgyo Honggyo Bridge

Honggyo is a rainbow-shaped bridge under another bridge. A dragon head sculpture is projected on the center of each side of the ceiling under the rainbow-shaped bridge. It looks like the expression of folk belief based on the relation between water and dragon.

Goeup-ri Chuisongjeong

Chuisongjeong, the men's part of a house inside a village, is a summer house-style pavilion with 3 Kans on the front, 3 Kans on the side and a hipped and gabled roof. It is the men's part of a house inside the Goeup-ri Vllage, the clan village of Suncheon Bak.

Jeondong-ri Domagyo Bridge

Domagyo Bridge includes the bridge over the Jeondongje Reservoir and two monuments next to it. The bridge was made with granite. Granite was trimmed to be rectangular and the platform was put under it. The flat stones were put over piles.

Ucheon-ri Three-Story Stone Pagoda

The pagoda was made during the Unified Silla period. It was designated as the Regional Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 6 on Jan. 29, 1972. It was promoted to National Treasure No. 943 on April 1, 1988.

Historic Site of Choi Daeseong

Choi Daeseong born, in Gyeombaek-myeon, Boseong-gun, made the great meritorious service for the victories in many places in the South Sea under the command of Chungmugong Yi during the Japanese invasion in 1592. He continued victories in about 20 fierce battles against Japan in Gwangyang, Suncheon, Goheung and other sites with thousands of soldiers during the Japanese invasion from 1592 to 1598. He died at 45 by being hit by a bullet from a Japanese soldier.

Haepyeong-ri Stone Totem Pole

Stone Totem Poles stand on the left and right side at the entrance of Joyang Village, Haepyeong-ri. The poles were made to pray for the safe delivery of taxes and safety in the sea and prevent bad luck from coming to the village with respect to the port warehouse.
